Travelpass weekly tickets were introduced from the 25th September 1983 replacing an earlier series of "Intermodal" weeklies in use since 1979. The Travelpasses retained the existing zonal boundaries and corresponding zone numbers established by the Intermodal series. Travelpass identification was based on these zonal numbers but used new dedicated colour coding. Magnetic strip Travelpasses were provided exclusively for issue at Eastern Suburbs railway stations as well as Town Hall and Central following the existing ESR ticket format. Their colour designation in the Travelpass series was blue. These tickets allowed unlimited bus travel to or from Edgecliff or Bondi Junction interchanges only, but not between these interchanges or towards the city from them. They also allowed travel on other bus services within Zone 7 that operated directly into the city but not through the rail interchanges, as well as bus and rail travel within the City Zone 1. During the 5 years that the ESR Travelpass ran concurrently with the BusESRail Weekly, the two were identically priced.
BUSESRAIL TRAVELPASS Weeklies were abolished in conjunction with the 3rd July 1988 fare rise when the availability of the Red Travelpass was extended from Zones 1, 3 and 6 to include Zone 7. |
